Thailand: Coups, Kings, and Papaya Salad

Thailand has now undergone its 12th coup since the end of WWII, and its second in the last ten years. We'll discuss the factors and variables that come into play with Thailand's domestic politics, and how that affects the region at large. We'll also discuss how human rights are impacted by "Lèse majesté" laws and regional disputes.

YPIA Programming Notes:

1-YPIA discussions are off the record and all opinions are welcomed to be expressed individually and respectfully.

2-The 2014 RSVP and participation policy is in effect for this Event. A maximum of 3 'No Shows' are allowed before removal from the Group. Priority goes to members in good standing.

Please update your RSVP status in a timely manner if your plans to attend change.

3-As always, we are accepting YPIA annual dues of $10 which covers administrative costs and special events.

With your RSVP, you agree to abide by the YPIA attendance and participation policy.

The readings posted below will help to get us started. Please post anything that would provide more illumination on the situation.
