First Annual Nerd Off!

Hanukkah is over, Mawlid an-Nabi is fast approaching, and Christmas is right around the corner. It's time to drink, be merry and nerd out!

What better way to end the year than enjoying a pint or two (err... maybe 3, it's the holidays) of our own YYC.js beer courtesy of Last Best (http://www.lastbestbrewing.com/), while your fellow nerds demo their mad science projects or the things they do on the boss' dime.

If you've got something you've been working on that you want to demo, fill out this form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jY85ZsMYomOfKdmCY_0JnqdPPcdKc-tY5M2Cpg2R4Rc/viewform?usp=send_form). Your demo can be on whatever tech stack you want, but you'll probably get more Dev Cred™ if it includes JS somehow.

There are 4 categories where you can win some sweet prizes:

• Most technically challenging - sponsored by 3ESI

• Most creative - sponsored by Pyxis Innovation

• Most useful - sponsored by Clio

• King or Queen of the Nerds (aka. fan favourite) - sponsored by AppCarousel

After the demos the audience will vote, we'll crown the winners, and celebrate our nerdiness until we've raised the dork level inside Last Best too high.

The number of demos will be capped at 10. If we have more submissions than that, presenters will be selected by group poll. Demos are 5 minutes max. No slides! Just products, personal or open source projects, or code.

This event is about recognizing and celebrating some of the cool tech that is happening in this city, whether it is a product or not. So feel free to bring as many people as you like! Please RSVP so we have a number count, but if you forget, don't worry about it.
