Introduction to Clojure

When it comes to programing languages Clojure [1] is a relatively new kid on the block but it has a lot going for it:

- all the benefits of functional programming
- strong concurrency support baked into the language & libraries
- Java interoperability (runs on the JVM)

So, it's high time it gets some decent zhgeeks coverage!!

We are very lucky to have Thomas G. Kristensen [2] step up to the challenge.

Thomas is a Software Pilot at Trifork GmbH and enthusiastic Clojure user. He has been working on every layer of the software stack, from implementing low level services to visual interfaces for the web and mobile devices.
In his daily work he touches a multitude of different technologies, one of them being Clojure, which he is introducing in his organisation.

Thanks for the great attendance! I'm happy to see some of you have already signed up for the new Zürich Clojure User Group (http://www.meetup.com/zh-clj-Zu...)

Great! Too many brackets though! ;)

The principal material covered was absolutely right for me and gave some good insights into what Clojure can do on a language level. Examples were well chosen. Some of the general observations about programming came out a bit flat and could had been cut short.

It was very interesting, even for those who already new some other Lisp dialect, because the Clojure-specific featurs have been explained.

Excellent talk, good introduction to the features and strengths of the language. Looking forward to join the newly founded Clojure User Group! Thumbs up!
