This is a moderate but rather long hike (11.6 miles) through gently rolling peidmont woodlands, with lots of interesting rock outcropings. We will hike a loop, starting out on the Uwharrie Trail and switching over to the Duthmans Creek Trail where the two intersect. Then we'll hike back on the Dutchmans Creek Trail. The highest point along the trail is Dennic Mountain at 732 feet, and from the summit we should have some nice views of Lake Tillery to the west, and Morrow Mountain on the other side of the lake.
Bring water and food for lunch in the woods, and of course dress for the weather. We can have dinner in Albermarle or Charlotte on the way back. Those who wish to carpool can meet up at the parking lot of the elevation church in the shopping center located near the intersection of East Independence Blvd and I-485. Otherwise, meet us at the trailhead on highway 24/27 east of Albermarle, a two miles past the bridge over the Pee Dee River, on the left.
