For the last month of 2016 we will bring you Eva Lok (https://github.com/evalok) and Maikel Hofman (https://github.com/MaikelH). They will be presenting their talk "Microservices in Practice".
We're hosted by RedKiwi this month, which should be a familiar name for regular 010PHP attendees, but please note that they have moved to a new address (see below). For those who missed our earlier RedKiwi meetups, they are a full service digital agency. With only 35 employees they serve over 400 customers.
Microservices in Practice - Eva Lok (https://github.com/evalok) and Maikel Hofman (https://github.com/MaikelH)
Tooling, solid development processes, and concise documentation are essential to success when working within the confines of a microservice based architecture. In this presentation, we aim to provide a look into some of the knowledge and techniques that we’ve acquired through blood, sweat, and tears.
We will take you on a tour of a working microservice-based sample application, and touch on many of the common challenges faced, such as container orchestration, deployment techniques, documentation automation, and monitoring. Just as importantly, we touch on pitfalls such as data consistency, coupling, and compromise. We illustrate our points through a live kubernetes based demo.
