Join us on Wednesday, August 14 at 9 a.m. at Garden Villa Cafe to learn Matt York's six steps for combining philanthropy and social entrepreneurship into a force for good.
Video is everywhere. In the developed world, it’s one of the most ubiquitous mediums for spreading information, for everything from social media ads to personal vlogs and online schooling. Yet for the world’s poorest billion, this incredible technology is all but non-existent. Matt York of humanitarian film charity One Mobile Projector Per Trainer (OMPT) is on a mission to change that.
As the founder of Videomaker, Matt York has over thirty years in the video industry and has spent the last decade in pursuit of bringing video technology to the 70 poorest countries around the world. He founded OMPT in 2008 as an organization aimed at delivering life-changing knowledge and education to remote villages in developing countries.
Combining impressive business acumen with a passion to make a difference, Matt walks the walk as an avid philanthroprenuer in the Chico community.

Attention Startups, Early-Stagers and Entrepreneurs of All Stages
1 Million Cups (1MC) is a program run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs in 64-U.S. communities (as of Oct. ’14) - based on the notion that entrepreneurs gather weekly to network and discover solutions over a million cups of coffee.
Each week on Wednesday morning, 1MC - Chico offers one startup or early-stage entrepreneur an opportunity to present their business or concept to a diverse audience followed by 20 minutes of audience feedback, questions, suggestions, and referrals.
Presenting entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather real-time feedback, connect with a community that truly cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities. When: Wednesday, Weekly
Time: 9:00am - 10 AM.
Meetings start at 9:00, end at 10:00. Open for networking after.
