new cycling club - sandymount

Want to join us for a leisure cycle on Saturday mornings. We normally head out from 2 Wheels Cycle shop on Sandymount Green. Meet up at 9:45 to head out at 10:00 sharp.

The cycle is open to all however you must be comfortable at tackling distances from 50 - 100 km. The pace will be determined by the group on the day but is usually 20 kph +. Previous trips have taken in Lucan, Malahide, Howth and Glencullen to name but a few and this is a great opportunity to see the sights of Dublin and Wicklow and get some exercise.

It is also a great chance prepare for some of next years events such as the Wicklow 100/200 or even further afield the Ring of Kerry.

Further details are posted to the 2 wheels Facebook page in advance of the cycle. The only rule is that you must wear a helmet, so sorry in advance, no helmet no cycle. After that you are advised to come prepared with a spare tube, pump, water, light snack and cash for emergencies. All the accessories can be purchased in 2 Wheels if required. And off course being Ireland you should always prepare for the weather.

Another great cycle, tested the legs with a trip to Ticknock, as I always say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
We also we able to demo a wheel change!

Hi Peter, I haven't planned a route for this Saturday yet. I normally leave it to nearer the date, Thursday or Friday and check the weather. This good spell is set to break later in the week.
Subject to the weather we head off about 10 on a Saturday and back between 2 and 3.
To get the most I usually do a mix of hills and flat cycling. As we are south side we usually head into the Dublin / Wicklow mountains but i think they are not really mountains just overgrown hills, but when tired overgrown hills are challenging.
Re bike hire, we cycle out from a bike shop, 2 Wheels in Sandymount green and they often have bikes, hybrids and road for hire. Their phone number is[masked] 8675.
I don't know if they provide helmets, if you need one let me know and i should be able to bring one along as I have a few spare.
Feel free to mail or call me on[masked] if you need more info. Garnet

A few questions: Do you have the route mapped, or can you give me a general idea about where the ride will go? I need to rent a bicycle, can you suggest a shop near Burlington Road?
