We also always find cool, happening locations to host our events. We are hosting this event at the exquisite and trendy The Continental Club in downtown L.A. Come and check out this fun venue while meeting new friends! And we will have drink specials just for our group. :) People often ask me if they can come by themselves...... OF COURSE! In no time you will be making a bunch of new friends because everyone there will be from Meetup and be looking to make friends! :) You are more than welcome to bring your friends as "wingman" or "wingwoman." Go to a place you have never been? Or go and check out a place you know!! Dozens of museums—presenting art, cultural heritage, natural history, and science—will open their doors and invite visitors to attend their museums free of charge. A link to the full list is will be posted in the comments area. The full list of 30 also contains a lot of great places that are free everyday. Taking normally free places off the list. As well as those in Santa Barbara, Riverside, Palm Springs, etc . . that leaves the following. The new list is now also reordered from highest to lowest instead of alphabetical. The offer of free admission is for general museum admission only and does not apply to specially ticketed exhibitions. Regular parking fees apply at each museum. Consult individual museum websites for hours, directions, and other visitor information. So here is what we are gonna do, . . . On this meetup event page if you are interested in any of these, . . . RSVP here and then in the comments area put where you want to go AND the meeting time. All you really need is one person to join you. Secondly, . . .on a monthly basis over the year an effort will be made to schedule a meetup to one of the normally free museums (volunteers welcome). And third . . . For a more "sure thing" of an event one from the list below is as a separate and stand-alone event. WAIT!!! I have a question, . . . Is this a hosted event or un-hosted? OK . . . here is the answer. One of these locations will be hosted by a primary organizer from the group. Other locations will be hosted by other organizers if they step up and volunteer. On a smaller basis members will step up and offer to host at locations that have none. If there is nobody that steps up there is no host and therefore no event. As of right now . . leaning towards LACMA as the main hosted one as it is central. A stand-alone will be posted after NYE. RSVP here to stay in the loop with updates. Below is list list of museums that will be free and their normal fee. Everyone is from Meetup and ready to mingle. Most people come by themselves so you will not be alone! I know it can be super nerve wrecking to come by yourself but, as long you are friendly and easy going, you will make some friends by the end of the event. We have a private Meetup-only Mixer at the club before it opens to the public. That way everyone from Meetup can meet each other. And when the club opens to the public, you and your new friends can enjoy the rest of the night. The Meetup-only Mixer starts at 8. Following the mixer, we get to stay in the club and dance the night away. The nightclub opens to the public at 10PM (after our private event). You are welcome to stay with your new friends!
