What we're about

Do you like to read? Try new restaurants? And meet new people? Then this group is for you. This group is designed for people in their 20s and 30s who want to read the latest great book and meet others with similar interests. We will meet once a month for lunch/brunch somewhere in the Orlando area and discuss that month's book. When those books inevitably become movies, we can plan movie outings, as well. At each meeting, we will vote for a new book and restaurant for the next location.

April: QualityLand @ Lukes

Luke's Kitchen and Bar

Due to the Orange County Stay at home order, this even has been pushed back 2 weeks to April 19- hopefully this date will work out. If not, I will push it out again. In the meantime, I will be setting up a remote event. For April's meetup, we will be reading QualityLand by Marc-Uwe Kling: Welcome to QualityLand, the best country on Earth. Here, a universal ranking system determines the social advantages and career opportunities of every member of society. An automated matchmaking service knows the best partners for everyone and helps with the break up when your ideal match (frequently) changes. And the foolproof algorithms of the biggest, most successful company in the world, TheShop, know what you want before you do and conveniently deliver to your doorstep before you even order it. In QualityCity, Peter Jobless is a machine scrapper who can't quite bring himself to destroy the imperfect machines sent his way, and has become the unwitting leader of a band of robotic misfits hidden in his home and workplace. One day, Peter receives a product from TheShop that he absolutely, positively knows he does not want, and which he decides, at great personal cost, to return. The only problem: doing so means proving the perfect algorithm of TheShop wrong, calling into question the very foundations of QualityLand itself.

June: Catch-up and Coffee

Boston Coffeehouse

This has been a weird year and we didn't get to meetup as much as we usually did, but there was a lot of time for reading, so this is a catch up meetup. Did you read one of our books, but miss the discussion? Well this is your chance. We will discuss all of the books we have done this year and I will have trivia on all of the books plus Hunger Games in preparation for next month's meetup. Here's the list of books: One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

July: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes Novel @Saint Anejo/Agave Azul

Agave Azul Cocina Mexicana

July's book is The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes Novel by Suzanne Collins. Set 64 years before The Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes revolves around the adventures of a teenage Coriolanus Snow, who would go on to become the illustrious President Snow of Panem. Falling on hard times, he is tasked with mentoring District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird for the 10th Hunger Games. Note at our last meetup we voted for St. Anejo, but it looks like it was bought by Agave Azul.
