Beginning Friendly Wine Festival Ride To Purcellville.

The city of Purcellville is having a wine and food festival from 4-9pm. We will meet in Herndon and ride on the W&OD to the end at Purcellville. Then we lollygagging in Purcellville for two hours have dinner and enjoying festivities.

Ride Details:

Most of the ride is on the W&OD bike trail. The route is a flat, no hills 25 miles one way. The total round trip will be just over 50 miles, but with the long break between ridding, it's doable for a beginner.

The ride will be no drop. We will split into two groups of cycling ability if we have many members on clearly different levels. I would like to have the ride available to the beginner but I'm not going to stop anyone from getting a workout or extra miles in.

Meetup Location:

Suggested starting location is Herndon public parking lot. If members want to longer route, say something and we will organize second starting location (4 mile run, etc) on the bike trail that meets up earlier.

What to Bring:

In short bike light, walking shoes, bike lock and cash. A bike light is not required but recommend. We will be getting back to Herndon shortly after sunset. Most members already have a bike light so it really is not an issue when we go back to Herndon in a group. I suggested that you bring a pair of light shoes or sandals that you can walk in. If you willing to pay the fuel cost (100 calories, I prefer complex carbs), I can carry them in my panniers. Bring a good bike lock. Purcellville is a honest, low crime, and bike friendly town. However, we are not going to be responsible for your bike. Bring cash for hydrogen, dinner and wine tasting.

Schedule:

Arrive at the Herndon park lot at 4:30pm.
Start riding at 4:45pm sharp.
Arrive in Purcellville around 6:30pm.
Drink and Dine for two hours.
Depart Purcellville after watching the sunset at 8:30pm.
Arrive in Herndon between 10:00-10:30pm.

Magnolias is an awesome stop (restaurant/bar) at the end of the the W&OD in Purcellville. Good food - right at the end of the trail. Check it out.

Hi Scott, what time (an estimate is fine) do you think the group will arrive in Purceville? I have a previous engagement that day, but may drive down to spend time with the group if my plans don't end too late...
