Backpack Shi Shi Beach

  • May 11, 2013 · 7:00 AM

interested in seeing one of Washington's finest beaches and amazing seastacks? Well, Shi Shi is the place to be. This is a Mountaineers organized trip, but open to everyone willing to share a ride, backpack, and enjoy the wonderful State we live in! Remember to bring the camera for evening and early morning prize winning photographs!

If you change your mind, I'd still be willing to go to the Olympics despite the weather. Other than that, I might be up for Rattlesnake traverse (if sunny) or Tenerife (rain or shine). I haven't picked a day yet though, there's a BBQ at Gas Works Saturday that's tempting. I might bike to that. If I decide to hike Saturday, I'll give you a call. If anyone wants to do Tenerife Sunday, post here. Hopefully I'll remember to check it!

Tenneriffe to si traverse sounds tempting too, but rather than one BBQ on sat, I'd rather be out for most of the day hiking or biking :).

You could bike to the BBQ on Saturday and hike on Sunday!

Ok, I'm bummed about a weather front moving in on Sat evening and Sun morning. I like to move the trip to sometime later this month, but still do a hike this Sat. Either South Cascades Hamilton Mtn. Or Rattlesnake traverse. Let me know thy interests soon as possible. My only other option is to go out for a bike tour somewhere local....maybe Mercer Island loop.

It's been a few years since I hiked and stayed over night. What food items should I expect to bring? It there a list of camping gear I could view?

My husband and I would love to go... as long as we have someone to carpool with, we do not have a car.

Evan, you have been incredible in both willing to help with a ride and helping me understand what was involved. After evaluating the costs of starting from scratch for 2. It is just outside our finances. I hope that we can remedy that and join next time. I am sorry.

Would have loved to hike around that area, unfortunately an overnighter is not doable for us.

I can't make it and I'm bummed. I would love to do this. It's one of my favorite trips.
