Summer BBQ #3 - Alki Beach

This 3rd event of the Summer BBQ Series is at Alki Beach Park from 1pm to 5pm.

Picture a perfect summer day, and chances are your thoughts will take you to Alki Beach Park, a long beach strip that runs from Alki Point to Duwamish Head on Elliott Bay.

We have reserved Picnic tables #3 and 4 which are located next to the Statue of Liberty at the south (Alki Point) end of the beach.

A little History:

Alki Beach is the site of the landing of the first white settlers in Seattle on a cold, stormy day in November of 1851. Chief Seattle and his tribe greeted them and helped them build their cabin to stave off the cold, wet winter.

The Statue of Liberty, a small replica of the original "Liberty Enlightening the World" in New York City, was a gift from Reginald H. Parsons and the Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America in 1952. The statue has become such a symbol of liberty and courage that it became a place to mourn, to reflect, and to leave mementos after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Friends and family are welcome to the event, cost of the BBQ is $10.

BBQ starts at noon but we will be there at 11:30 to set up, please come give us a hand.

When you get there on the event day - first check in with the event hosts and get your wristband, then enjoy all you can eat food and drinks!!!

This event is cross posted with other groups.

No one commented on how the event went. Couldn't make it something urgent came up last minute. Just curious!

I enjoyed it. Everyone I met was friendly. Food was a little slow-going, but from what I heard was ok :)

Is this a dog-friendly event or are we going to be hanging out in a no-dogs area?

OK, this is in the grassy picnic area and not the sandy beach area, so dogs would be allowed (on a leash, of course).
