Wine Tasting Question

Chicago, IL
Post #: 4
I recently attended a wine tasting event, had about 200 or so people with about 5-6 vendors. As I'm standing in line I start to wonder. Who's paying for the sample tasting bottle?

If you think about it a vendor probably goes through 15-20 bottles of wine at a tasting. Some of those bottles range from $10 to $60. Does the company hosting the wine tasting pay for the taste bottles or does the vendor eat the bottles in hopes of sales either at the event or down the line?

I've also head some wineries paying for the booth which sounds nuts. Paying for a booth and then writing off 15-20 bottles..

Anyone know what the typical deal between a vendor and company hosting a wine tasting is?
