*** It's a great day to learn molecular mixology! See you tonight! ***

UPDATE #5: There are still 5 spots left, so you may claim a spot by arriving early with exact cash. Also, there are usually 5 no-shows for this event, so you just might be able to join us. Make sure to come early with exact cash.

UPDATE #4: We've been able to open some additional spots, so get them while you can!

UPDATE #3: The early-bird price has ended and the ticket price is now $40. Looking forward to seeing you there!

UPDATE #2: We've been able to extend the early bird price! The first 40 paid sign-ups, or those who pay before Thurs. Aug. 1st (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to $40.

UPDATE #1: There are 9 early bird spots left and the price will increase from $35 to $40 when the early bird spots are gone or before Sat. July 27th (whichever comes first). To be fair to those who want to join in and are ready to make payment, I'll be removing those that haven't paid by Mon. July 22nd. So make payment to *truly* lock in your spot.

Ok, let's learn molecular mixology!!

We have a fun class planned with this one! Come join us for a 2 - 3 hour demonstration on molecular bartending. Learn the intricacies in the preparation of molecular cocktails, using varied ingredients and simple techniques.

Molecular mixology is the process of creating cocktails using equipment and techniques of molecular gastronomy. These methods enable the creation of greater intensities and varieties of flavor, flavor combinations, and different ways of presenting drinks. For example, using gels, powders, foams, atomised sprays etc., as well as affecting the appearance of the cocktail.

I have recruited the professional bartending staff at Josephine (one of the most popular bar / lounges in DC) to take us through the exploration of molecular bartending.

Not only that:

We will have 3 "rounds" of molecular mixology, where each round demonstrates the preparation and creation of each type of cocktail We'll each get to taste ALL of the cocktails we just learned and demonstrated to us! We'll each receive copies of the recipes, detailing the preparation of the cocktails demonstrated to us We'll be provided with discounted drink specials for additional drink purchases (the drinks from the cocktail menu below is normally $12 each, but we get them for $8) Bar snacks will be provided, to include pretzels, sesame sticks, chips, chocolates, etc. COCKTAIL MENU

Kir Royale with Chambord Caviar (Spherification method - process of shaping a liquid into spheres which visually and texturally resemble caviar) Electric Jello Shot (Gelification technique - process of converting liquid substances into solids with the help of a gelling agent) Pomegranate Cosmo with Lime Air (Emulsification method - process of mixing 2 more more liquids that are normally unmixable) Afterwards, we'll keep it going with the regular Saturday night crowd at Josephine, and let loose for a night of dancing, music, drinks, and fun! The cover (normally $20) is included in our ticket price! 21+

We've got an early bird special for this event of $35! The first 40 paid sign-ups, or those who pay before Sat. July 27th (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to $40. We have a LIMITED number of spots so make sure to RSVP early and make payment to get the early bird price!

Also please know that your RSVP is not guaranteed unless we receive payment. When you pay, your online receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment.

Come join us, tell a friend, and let's learn, drink, and enjoy molecular mixology together! =)

Hope to see you there!

- J.T.

P.S. Please know this is a DEMONSTRATION class, rather than a "hands-on" class (which is much more expensive).

Metro and Parking

Closest Metro is McPherson Square (Orange / Blue lines), I suggest Metro / cabbing it. I also recommend using wmata ( for travel plans. Don't forget to account for Metro and traffic delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage.

Dress Code

Dress code for the Josephine includes includes no hats, no athletic gear, no baggy clothes, no t-shirts, no flip / flops, no timberlands, no ripped jeans, nice sneakers ok. Suggested attire for men: button up collar shirt with slacks, hard-soled dress shoes. Suggested attire for women: classy and sexy.

Payment Instructions (Paypal account not required):

Please follow the instructions below for making payment (if payment by smartphone doesn't work, please try your computer). Payment at the door will be permitted only should the event not sell out. Most of our events do sell out, so we recommend you secure your spot online early. If you make payment for less than the current ticketed price without prior correspondence, your RSVP will be removed.

Select "Yes" under "Will you attend?" Enter the number of guests coming and click "rsvp" Verify correct dollar amount for number of people you're paying for, click "Pay Now" button If you don't have a Paypal account, click "Pay with a Debit or Credit Card" If you have a Paypal account, simply log in, and pay as you normally would via Paypal Event Check-in

We will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but I recommend printing out your payment confirmation as a backup. When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the Paypal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your Paypal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please take a moment to log into your Paypal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in.

Refund Policy & Ticket Resell

Since we paid in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled. Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. I suggest posting in the comment box for the event, that you have a ticket for sale. Work out payment between yourselves, and send us an email letting us know the full name and Meetup profile URL (if a member) of the person taking your spot. Thanks for understanding. =)
