*** List is now closed, NO TICKETS will be sold at the door! Great night for some holiday fun, see you tonight! ***
*** RSVP list closes at 6pm, Sat. Dec. 3rd... make sure to sign up before then! ***
UPDATE #6: Also, just a reminder, when you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the Paypal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your Paypal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please take a moment to log into your Paypal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you don't know it, or you give the wrong name, you will not be able to get in! If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in. Please see the Event Checkin section of the event posting for full details.
UPDATE #5: We'll be on the 90s floor (2nd level). A couple of notes about Decades, as with most clubs... this place has a serious sound system. That means it WILL be loud. The best time to talk and meet people will be between 9 - 11pm when we have the place mostly to ourselves. After that, it's pretty much time to, yes, party! Also, keep in mind it is a club, so it WILL be crowded. And while we have our own line, with the large number of people coming out, logistically it may take 15 - 20 minutes or more for them to get us all in, especially if we all decide to come at once. I recommend that you arrive on the earlier side to avoid having to wait in line. So please have your ID out and ready. Come on out, and let's let loose with a night of holiday dancing, music, drinks, and fun!
UPDATE #4: Don't forget (as mentioned in the event posting), please make sure to arrive before 11:30pm. After that, if we are late, we will each need to pay an ADDITIONAL $20 to get in (the regular cover charge).
UPDATE #3: Drink specials for our group include $5 Corona, $8 20s & 30s Festive drinks, and $8 Nuts & Berries shooters on the 90s floor (2nd level)... until 11:30pm. Dress code is in full effect! Holiday outfits aside, suggested attire for men: button up collar shirt with slacks, hard-soled dress shoes. Suggested attire for women: classy and sexy. Please see the "Dress Code" section of the event posting for full details.
UPDATE #2: The early-bird price has ended and the ticket price is now $10. Looking forward to seeing you there!
UPDATE #1: There are fewer than 25 early bird spots left and the price will increase from $5 to $10 when the early bird spots are gone or by Sun. Nov. 27th (whichever comes first). To be fair to those who want to join in and are ready to make payment, I'll be removing those that haven't paid by Sun. Nov. 20th. So make payment to *truly* lock in your spot (see the Payment section of the event posting). If you've already made payment, the PayPal email you received is confirmation that we've received your payment (no need to email me asking for ticket confirmation). This UPDATE has been emailed to the yes RSVPs. I hope to see you there!
Ok, it's time for a winter holiday party!
I've made special arrangements with the brand new Decades for a night of holiday dancing, music, drinks, and fun! Cover is normally $20, but that is INCLUDED in our ticket price (until 11:30pm)! Not only that, we get:
• Our own drink specials on the 90s floor (2nd level)
• Our own line (ask for the 20 & 30s Going Out Group's Meetup line)
• VIP access to the *entire* club
• Our own 20s & 30s Going Out Group wristbands and glow bracelets, so we can easily identify each other!! =)
• We'll have a ugly sweater / holiday dress contest and winners get a $75 bar tab
Ugly holiday sweaters, Santa hats and outfits, elf attire, reindeer antlers, and / or any other winter holiday garments and costumes are encouraged! Looking forward to seeing what we come up with as we spread holiday cheer.
We will be judging the Best Ugly Sweater and Best Holiday Attire at 10:30pm. If you are interested in entering, come up to me and let me know which category you are interested in. The winner from each category will receive a $75 bar tab for the rest of the night! From 9 - 11pm, we'll mix and mingle together before the regular crowd gets there. After 11pm, we'll keep it going all night with the regular Saturday night crowd!
For those that haven't been there before, and opening just in time for our event, the brand new Decades (brought to us by the same owners of Barcode, Echostage, Soundcheck, Ultrabar) brings back the old-school vibe of the multi-level, multi-DJ clubs. DJs spin music from bygone eras on all three of the building’s floors and on its rooftop deck. Four decades of music and nightclub culture, we won't want to miss this! 21+ (valid ID required)
We've got an early bird special for this event of $5! The first 175 paid sign-ups, or those who pay by Sun. Nov. 27th (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to $10. We have a LIMITED number of spots so make sure to RSVP early AND make payment to secure your spot and get the early bird price! To make payment, please follow the steps in the "Payment" section of the event posting.
Also please know that your RSVP is not guaranteed unless we receive payment. When you pay, your online receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment.
So tell a friend, come on out, and let's let loose with a night of holiday dancing, music, drinks, and fun! Also, 20s & 30s Rockstars, please help make the newbies feel welcome! =)
Metro and Parking
The closest Metro is Dupont Circle - south exit (Red line) and Farragut West (Orange, Blue, Silver lines). I suggest Metro / cabbing / Uber'ing if you can. I also recommend using wmata.com for travel planning. Don't forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage. I recommend using parkopedia.com for garage parking planning.
Ugly holiday sweaters, Santa hats and outfits, elf attire, and / or any other winter holiday garments are encouraged! Holiday outfits aside, dress code includes includes no hats, no athletic gear, no baggy clothes, no t-shirts, no flip / flops, no timberlands, no ripped jeans, nice sneakers ok. Suggested attire for men: button up collar shirt with slacks, hard-soled dress shoes. Suggested attire for women: classy and sexy.
Paypal account not required. Please follow the instructions below for making payment (if payment by smartphone doesn't work, please try your computer). Payment at the door will be permitted only should the event not sell out. A lot of our events do sell out, so we recommend you secure your spot online early. If you make payment for less than the current ticketed price displayed without prior correspondence, your RSVP will be removed.
1. Select "Yes" under "Will you attend?" (or select "Change" RSVP to add more guests if you've already purchased ticket(s))
2. Enter the number of guests coming and click "Finish RSVP"
3. Click "Pay Now" (or "Pay Online Now") at the top of the event posting near the ticket price per person
4. Verify correct dollar amount for number of people you're paying for. Modify if appropriate, click "Pay Now" or "Check Out" button
5. If you don't have a Paypal account, click "Pay with a Debit or Credit Card"
6. If you have a Paypal account, simply log in, and pay as you normally would via Paypal
I will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but I recommend printing out your payment confirmation as a backup. When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the PayPal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your PayPal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please log into your PayPal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in.
Since we pay in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. If the event is canceled or rescheduled, an UPDATE will be posted at the top of the event posting, and the UPDATE will also be sent as an email to the yes RSVPs. A full refund will be submitted no later than Wednesday of the following week. For rescheduled events, you must let us know within 3 calendar days of the UPDATE email if you are unable to make the new date... no refunds will be given after that time. Thanks for understanding. =)
Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. I suggest posting in the comment box for the event, that you have a ticket for sale. Work out payment between yourselves, and have the seller only send the organizer a "message" through their Meetup profile (do not comment in the comment box of the event posting) letting me know the first AND last name, and Meetup profile URL (if a member) of the person taking your spot (please also copy them on the message). I host a lot of events and groups, so please let me know the event name and group name the ticket transfer is for. You must let me know by the RSVP close time of 6pm on the day of the event.
Should inclement weather (e.g. snow storm, hurricane, etc.) affect our event, we'll need to reschedule or cancel. If any one of the following is not available for service due to inclement weather, we'll need to do so: Metrorail is not running to all stops; Uber (X, SUV, etc.) is not running or available at no more than 2x standard rates; venue(s) are not open. I'll post an UPDATE to the top of the event posting by 6:30pm on the day of our event with the details.
If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, dietary for events with food included, etc.), let us know in advance (a week or more before the event) and we will do our best to accommodate (message me through my Meetup profile). If you let us know the day of the event, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to help. Thank you for understanding and we appreciate the courtesy of a heads up!
