Late cancellation cost me $$$, but I am getting more than 1/2 the cost of the trip back, and I do not have to rent a car, and I get to start a new technical writing contract so maybe I can put some of my savings back after my incredibly expensive HVAC and oil tank fiasco... Finally seeing the sun again! :)

I'd love to do this but it's somewhat too expensive and I can't take that much time off from work

Sounds like a lovely trip, especially if headed up by Roads Scholar. I've been to the Biltmore 3x and dinner at Richmond Hill Inn (fantastic, gourmet, tre expensive) w/my family about 10 yrs ago. I can't personally be away 5 days at this time.
