You're invited to 301 Original's first workshop of 2019: Introduction to Portrait Lighting In-Studio. Hosted by me, Kyle Asperger.

During the workshop, I'll walk you through my thought process behind industry standard portrait lighting setup.

My career as a graphic designer stemmed from my love of super hero comic book art, segued into the drawing studio, then began to evolve into the digital realm. It is through my latter few years as a commercial photographer that I really stopped to gape at lights' bright, shining moments in life.

If you can't see it, you can't shoot it...draw it, paint it, type it, bop it, you get the point. Light is a critical part of our world, not to mention that none of us would even exist without sunlight but I'm no biologist. Moving on.

How many of you try to dissect exactly how they light movies? It's fascinating.

And quite complex at times. My Introduction to Portrait Lighting, however, will break down an industry standard portrait setup with the intent of demystifying the impossibility of studio lighting. Chances are I'll throw in a few other snippets worth holding onto for future experimentation ;)

Cassidy Smith will be our model for the evening. We'll have some bites from our friends at Hai Poké with a few brews to wash it down with.

Welcome to the new home of 301 Original. We grow as you grow. Bring a notebook and a friend!

Only $10/person online and at the door (covering the cost of our lovely model and the food, the rest is courtesy of 301 Original). We accept cash or credit at the door.

Note: though it is a workshop, please keep your cameras at home. In time we'll have other workshops where cameras/other tech is encouraged. Thank you!
