April 10 - Gas Plant Water Permit Hearing - Bridgeport
CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection ( DEEP) released a notice in December that they intend to give PSEG a permit to put MORE pollution into the Bridgeport water system from a new fracked gas power plant. We provided a petition for a public hearing on this permit signed by over 50 people but they rejected it for procedural reasons so there will be a informational meeting held on April 10 at 5:00 PM at Bridgeport City Hall. This meeting will include the opportunity for public comment.

Please join 350 CT and many other climate justice organizations in opposing this and any other permit that puts a larger pollution burden on the people of Bridgeport.

Response to request for a public hearing:
Your petition for hearing was delivered to me on March 1st. Staff had received a copy of the petition on January 22, 2019, but no copy was sent to the Office of Adjudications as directed in the Notice of Tentative Decision. This Notice was published in The Connecticut Post on December 21, 2018, and was posted on the DEEP website. Also as directed in that Notice, no original petition was filed with staff or this office.

Given the procedural deficiencies with this petition, the Department will not conduct an adjudicatory hearing. However, in order to accommodate your request to be heard, an informational meeting will be held on April 10 at 5:00 PM in Bridgeport City Hall. This meeting will include the opportunity for public comment.

Please see the attached Notice of Public Informational Meeting for more information.
