  • This location is shown only to members

Hi Everyone,

I think we're set for out first meetup event.

Eric Wolf from Airwolf 3d  will be giving a great opening introduction to 3D Printing.  He'll cover the basics, and if this is your first real exposure to 3d printing will help you learn about the different types of 3d printing technologies, the digital workflow, commonly used materials and his line of 3d printers.

Airwolf 3D is also inviting our members to their Open house later in the week (this friday Sepember 27th) read more about the event here:

http://airwolf3d.com/blog/2013/09/06/3d-printer-manufacturer-announces-open-house/

Meetup Agenda:

• 6:15 - 7:00 Doors open for meetup group members to start convening, setup printers & getting ready

• 7:00 - 7:10 Quick Introduction

• 7:10 - 8:00 Introduction to 3d Printing with Eric Wolf (of Airwolf 3d Printers)

• 8:00 - 8:20 3D Printing & Molding with Steven Kaye

• 8:20 - 8:40 Part design for Noobs; Intro to 3Dagogo.com with Drew Taylor

8:40 +   Open Floor, Conversation and Demonstrations

We'll leave the facility open until the discussion peters out.

It looks like we'll have a handful of people bringing in their printers.  I'm sure that you'll be able to meet some really interesting people,  have great conversations and see some of these machines in action.

We'll have a reasonable selection of machines to see.  Right now it looks like we'll have the following machines onsite:

• Airwolf3d

• PrintrBot LC

• Replicator 2

• Eagle Labs Kossel Clear Delta Printer

If your interested in bringing your printer for the event, please don't hesitate.  We have plenty of space and power.  If you haven't already discussed with me, just give me a call @[masked] to make arrangements.

See you there!

    Hello there,

I'm a reporter with San Diego CityBeat and I'm looking for interesting projects being made locally with 3D printers. It can be anything! If you're interested in being featured in my article, please email me at [masked] asap as my deadline is quickly approaching. Thanks!

Looking forward to the next meetup - I'm working on a scratch-built Titan for Warhammer 40k, and have plenty of fine-tuning questions.

How does one take advantage of the "$95 bonus items" offer? I see that now on the meet-up, but didn't remember it being discussed in the meeting.

It was a real pleasure meeting you and seeing Airwolf3D's shop today. Thanks for all the insights, tips, and ideas! I'm really excited to see the non-stop continuous innovation and improvement going into these printers, at a pace that defies model numbers and product generations. (MatterHackers was also a fun visit. Glow in the Dark PLA, because, why not!)

Any experts with 3D want to come help make a dream come true?

Hi mike - would love someone that can talk about materials and technology capabilities....demo their printer...or willing to print a test file on Sunday. I have a 3d artist in our team....

Hi Lucy, if you are looking for an FDM printer (plastic extruder type) we might be able to help you out. We use an AirwolfXL (which is an awesome one). We are pretty busy with the start up of our site, but can make some time. If all you need is to get it printed, we can even have your designer email it over and we'll print it out... ~Drew 3Dagogo.com

Thanks for putting this together! I thought it was a very well-organized event with a lot of useful content. I really enjoyed seeing the different models of printers in one place and talking to expert enthusiasts.

How does the waitlist work? Should we show up anyways and hope there's room?

I've removed the RSVP limit on the meetup. Our space is definitely large enough to fit the people, so we pulled out all of the safeties :) We'll see if it turns out to be standing room only.

    Hi Everyone!

I've updated the agenda for tomorrow's meetup group. We have arranged for two speakers tomorrow. Eric Wolf from Airwolf 3D Printers will be delivering the 'keynote' presentation with an introduction to 3D Printing. Airwold is also offering a promotional incentive for $95 of extras if you like his product line and end up purchasing one of these really beautiful printers.

One of our Members, Steven Kay will also giving a short presentation on his foray into mold making with his 3D Printer. Come see how you can get involved and be a part of the 3d printing revolution that is upon us.

We'll be there, representing 3Dagogo! If there are specific concerns that 3D designers have regarding using 3D printers, let us know!!!

  • Spencer B.

I would love to hear a talk about general tips for improving print quality. Things like calibrating temperatures, choosing print speeds, what hardware upgrades can have the biggest impact on print quality, etc.

I'm a cnc machinist and am very interested in learning the capabilities of 3d printing

I have a particular need already to be able to import a jpg/png/tiff or other vector drawn image into sketchup make (free version) as a texture then be able to extrude it. That way we can scan business cards and print them in 3D.
