If you think 3D printers are little toys for hobbyists, think again. Today's 3D printers are manufacturing tools for aerospace, automotive, healthcare, plastics and metals manufacturing, culinary arts and more. They produce rapid prototypes, offer the ability to improve product designs and reduce costs, offer capabilities that were unobtainable with traditional manufacturing and yes they even produce end use parts. Have you flown a Boeing aircraft lately? If so, chances are there were 3D printed parts on that aircraft. Did you take the kids to see the movie Minions? Full color 3D printers helped to develop and film the movie (We have one of them). Know anyone who has an artificial knee? More and more they're being custom made to match the patient using 3D printing and CAD files developed from CT scans. Invisilign braces? All vacuum formed to 3D printed molds from a 3D Systems Projet printer. The 3D Printing for Business Group is open to people 18 and older who would like to learn more about 3D printing in the business world. Whether you're a CAD designer, manufacturer, engineer, small business entrepreneur, artist, or just someone who wants to learn more about the possibilities of 3D in business, we want you to join us. I am passionate about 3D printing, having started printing prosthetic hands for children as a volunteer with e-NABLE several years ago (see I have worked for 3D Systems and currently work at Accucode 3D in Carrollton at 2081 Hutton Drive, Suite 101, just off I-35 and Valwood Parkway. I am a dealer for 3D Systems, EnvisionTEC, Markforged and the new Avatarium3D full body scanning booth. Please note these will be teaching, sharing and learning meetings and not sales oriented. Meetings will take place at my office where we have a Cube Pro Trio three color filament printer (PLA and ABS), a Mark One Continuous Fiber Filament printer (Carbon Fiber/Kevlar/ Fiberglass reinforcement in Nylon prints), a Projet 660 colorjet printer that prints full color sandstone prints and a Projet 3500 HD Max multijet printer that prints high resolution (28 to 32 micron) plastic. For the more ambitious, I have 3D Systems SLA, SLS and Direct Metal printers available to print at a discount for group members.
