What we're about

This group is for SINGLE men and women who are AGE 40 and above who are novice through experienced campers.

It’s a NEW YEAR! We’re back and ready to camp! Who’s with us???

Are you ready for some adult fun? Time outdoors with like-minded people? Tents, cars, trailers or vans are welcome regardless of your experience. We’re here to camp in relaxing and interesting places near you and, not so near you. The group leaders, Bridget and John, want our members to get away from the daily grind, sit around a camp fire with good conversation and the occasional beer or glass of wine, relax, hike, commune, cook, laugh, and breathe fresh air. We have established a quad-county group consisting of people from Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego Counties. Come out and meet friendly people who enjoy camping just like you.

We mostly have 2-day camp-outs since many of our members still work. However, we will have some long-distance trips. There will be some trips where the camp-sites are group sites, but most times each camper will need to get or share an individual site. Each event will clearly describe the location and whether you will have to book your own site. We will also have the occasional "meet and greet" where you can get to know each other.

By joining the group, you agree to the terms mentioned below.

Refunds - When trip organizers collect money in advance for a campsite or activity, cancellations must be made 1 week prior to the start of the event in order to be eligible for a refund. However, some refunds are also subject to campsite policies and those will supersede this rule when the time is greater than one week. Each organized trip will include refund information specific to the event.

Safety and Code of Conduct - As a member of this group, your participation is an “at will” basis and you agree to assume all risks and liability related to, or resulting from, any and all group functions and activities in which you and your invited guest(s) participate, regardless of whether the risks are described in the Meetup write-up, are inherent to the activity, or otherwise. You agree that neither you nor any third party will hold any of the group's leaders, officers, or representatives liable for any injury, loss, or damage to your own person or any members of your family, friends, acquaintances, children, pets, or property, arising directly or as a consequence from a group activity.

Risks of Involvement - As a member you ACKNOWLEDGE AND ASSUME all of the risks of the activity in which you and/or a guest(s) of yours will be participating, whether or not those risks are described in the Meetup write up and whether they are inherent or otherwise.

Activities - Activities within this group are NOT guided and consequently organizers are not responsible for the safety and welfare of the participants. You are responsible for your own safety and making sure you are appropriately equipped and have the physical ability to participate in the group events. This includes but is not limited to traveling to and from events, setting up your own campsite, and ensuring access to any necessary supplies, medical care and medications you may need.

Dangerous Behavior - Any dangerous behaviors that put your physical safety and/or the safety of those around you at risk will not be tolerated and may be cause for your removal from the group. This includes but is not limited to the abuse of alcohol or drugs.

Travel - Travel to and from the event is your responsibility and you assume all responsibility for any accident or mishap, regardless of the method of transportation used, or whether you were a driver or passenger. For the long distance trips, there will be assistance with coordinating carpooling.

Harassment - Whether it be mental, emotional, sexual, or physical, harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited and can be cause for immediate dismissal from the group.

Invited Guests, Children, and Pets - All adult guests (when permitted) are your responsibility and are subject to signing the agreement for participation and adherence to all policies, rules of safety, and conduct.

Minors - (under 18 years of age) When allowed they will need your signature on an agreement for participation form and adherence to all policies, rules of safety, and conduct. Children are only allowed when expressly stated in a Meetup write-up, or you have obtained prior approval from the organizer.

Pets -are allowed on trips except when the campground does not permit it. Please be aware that campground policies dictate if pets are allowed. Additionally, pets must get along with people and other pets.
