We will be staying in the grounds of a beautiful Stately Home, Brympton House, just 2 miles from Yeovil in Somerset in the B&B Fat Pidgeon The accommodation is surrounded by lovely gardens, a lake and stunning country-side. Every day we will go and enjoy a little bit of Somerset or Dorset and there will be a little bit of everything to suit all tastes Monday: Dept from Waterloo 13.20 to arrive at Yeovil Junction 15.38 Arrival Yeovil Junction - transfer to our accommodation to arrive about 16.00 Afternoon free to roam around the grounds of Brympton House Evening meal together: menu choices will be sent out for you to chose from including vegetarian Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday The programme can change according to weather but I will be showing you the following: - Day in Montacute with the chance to go round the dinky village and the National Trust Stately home. Camelot country For those who are able and willing, I will lead a 6 mile circular walk around the village whilst the others explore We will enjoy a late lunch together in the village in a lovely olde world pub East Coker, home to the famous poet TS Elliot We will visit the church where he was buried, stroll round the village with its array of beautiful houses, 17th century almshouses, and stroll a few miles to the farm shop for afternoon tea. Monarch trail, where King Charles walked over 600 miles hiding to escape Oliver Cromwell! 5-course dinner in Victorian Twine works! - Day in Sherborne, over the border in Dorset with its 2 castles, quaint high street and many tea shops….wonderful abbey, as well as the famous private Sherborne school where many films have been made. Again, for those willing and up for it, I will take us for a 5 mile circular walk around the castle estate There are a variety of fabulous old pubs in and around the town, so we can end up for a late lunch in one of them The B&B we are saying in provides evening snacks, drinks and games tables etc. so we can enjoy fun evenings together Friday: Departure at 12.29 from Yeovil Junction to go back to London Waterloo which arrives at 14.49 before the Friday rush hour! WALKING IN SPAIN - LOVLEY WEATHER, WARM SEA, INTERESTING WALKS I have chosen September for walking as the sea will still be warm and perfect for swimming, the days a little cooler for walking and the crowds gone after everyone has gone back to school. We will stay in the mountain village of Castro which is quiet, got delicious spring water and beautiful views out over the mountains. Every day we will leave for a walk after breakfast about 10.00 Our walks will not be a race as it is important that we enjoy our surroundings and have a chance to take photos, listen to the birds and just enjoy the variety of habitations that surrounds us. The walks will include the only desert in Europe, the desert of Tabernas; coastal walk in Cabo da Gata National Park, white village and mountains walks. We will start each day about 10.00 after breakfast and have a late lunch out. I will confirm all the details the night before. There will usually be a possibility to opt out along the way if you chose to relax or do something else. Saturday 21st Sept - Day 1. Arrive ALMERIA airport Enjoy a coffee on the beach. From the Albanian Riviera to its many UNESCO sites, Albania is an off the path gem in Europe. Join us on this 5 days tour in September 2019. Day 1: Arrival in Tirana Your local English speaking guide will welcome you at the airport in Tirana. Transfer to your centrally located hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight Day 2: Half day city tour Our walking tour will start after breakfast. We will get to know the most important sites of Tirana as the Skanderbeg Square, the Ethem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, Enver Hodja Pyramid, the University quarter and the famous “Blok” – Albanian’s former “forbidden” city, passage was only allowed to party members of high rank. Visit the castle with architectural elements of the byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman period and walk through the ancient, original Bazaar roads and see the museum dedicated to Skanderbeg, the national hero, who rose against the Ottomans and also the ethnographical museum – giving a very good overview of traditional life in the past. You will have some time to stroll through the original bazaar street, colorful with its many shops offering local handicraft and souvenirs. Transfer to our hotel in Durres on the Adriatic coast. Free time Dinner and overnight in Golem, Durres (Hotel Klajdi Resort or sim) Day 4: Day on leisure Enjoy the amenities of your hotel or relax on the sandy beach. Optional tour to Berat, UNESCO world heritage, also called the city of thousand windows. You will be fascinated by the beautiful mansions nestling alongside Osumi river and the castle rising majestic over the town. The castle is the only remaining one, which is still inhabitated. We will visit also the Onufri Museum located inside an ancient monastery and the famous Batchelors mosque.
