• Thessaloniki+ Meteora -History, lovely weather and Hellenic hospitality 4 days

Thessaloniki is easy to fall in love with – it has beauty, chaos, history and culture, a remarkable cuisine and wonderful, vast sea views. This is Greece’s second city with the streets full of life and vibrancy. Thessaloniki is famous for its gastronomy. Here you’ll eat to your heart’s content, your plates brimming with Mediterranean cuisine, seasoned with the added spice of Asia Minor. Thessaloniki: a melting pot of cultures Get to know the multitude of cultures that coexisted for centuries in Thessaloniki. During our visit to Thessaloniki, we will make a stop at these three significant landmarks: 1. Arch of Galerius and Rotunda: the Palace, the Arch (Kamara) and the impressive Rotunda reminiscent of the Pantheon. 2. The New promenade ( Nea Paralia) 3. The former home of Kemal Ataturk, now a museum. We will also visit Meteora on a day trip. There are few landscapes that excite the travelers as much as a visit to the enchanting Meteora. The gigantic rocks with the breathtaking volume and height, as they sharply arise in the edge of a big flatland, interrupt the smooth landscape like they were unreal, form part of an impressive geological phenomenon that you can’t miss the chance to observe closely. Moreover, the human intervention in this eerie scenery is astonishing: Monasteries built in the highest point of the rocks, seem to hover between earth and sky, between human and divine element. In 1989, Meteora was added in the list of the World Heritage of UNESCO. The most popular sights and attractions in Thessaloniki 1. Thessaloniki’s old waterfront: Everyone’s idea of the perfect stroll. 2. Ano Poli: Wander the narrow lanes of Ano Poli, one of the oldest districts of Thessaloniki above the modern town. 3. The centre of Thessaloniki: Walk from the iconic 16th century White Tower to Aristotelous Square. 4. Ladadika: The old and exceptionally popular portside market. Your accommodation: 4 stars hotel in the city centre. Located very close to the White tower of Thessaloniki and the Old waterfront. Start your day with a rich buffet breakfast served daily. Greek and international flavours accompanied by a carefully handpicked wine list can be enjoyed for dinner at the elegant on-site restaurant. The Lounge Bar also serves a variety of cocktails and a wide selection of spirits. Your investment is £ 385 for a double/ twin room and £ 445 for a double room, single use. What is included in the trip: 3 nights in a four star hotel, central location 3 breakfasts 2 half-day guided walking tours in Thessaloniki Transfers from/to Thessaloniki airport Day trip to Meteor, UNESCO site Assistance with restaurants reservations and local information by the tour leader Financial protection according to Travel package regulations 1992 What is not included in the trip: Return flight to Thessaloniki around £95 at the moment ( as per 8th July 2019) Out on 16th October 2019 with Easyjet flight morning flight and return on 19th October with Easyjet. • Dorset - Guided walks amongst amazing landscapes, nature, beaches and a castle

Glenn, professional walk leader, map reader and survival guide will take you on a daily walk with a variety of landscapes in beautiful Dorset. Accommodation for the weekend will be in 3 bedroomed luxury lodges sleeping five in three bedrooms (or six if you are good friends) situated in the heart of Dorset heathland. A stonesthrow from Studland's stunning, award winning beaches, the site will be our base for the weekend. Plenty of car parking on site for those of you who are driving but if you are travelling by train to Poole, collection can be arranged. We will be surrounded by opportunities for relaxation, walking options or just lounging its really up to you. Arne RSPB reserve is just down the road - literally! with its Dartford Warblers, Smooth snakes, Sika deer and Nightjar. On the mudflats those of you who are interested in wildlife will see Spoonbills - yes a resident colony, Avocets - not long ago almost extinct in the UK and Marsh Harriers. A good time to visit the reserve would be just before dawn which unfortunately in June at midsummer is at about 3am!! Suggest we might leave it a bit later but I would be happy to take a group of very quiet walkers down to explore the site before the day's serious walking begins. Saturday will see us walking out from the accommodation over Brenscombe Hill to Corfe Castle, a very significant local landmark. Most of the village at Corfe Castle was built from the stone remnants of the castle after it was blown up by Cromwell's forces toward the end of the English civil war. There are a number of cafe/restaurant/delicatessens in the village. After scrambling over the ruins of the castle we will then continue on our journey to Knowle Hill and then onto Furzebrook and Middlebere. We will be walking over some of the most endangered heathland habitat in the country which contains flora and fauna found nowhere else in the UK. We will walk across the Hartland National Nature Reserve before returning to our accommodation. Saturday evening if you have not booked a table at 'The Pig', you might want to pop down to Swanage for a bite to eat. There are some exceptionally good seafood restaurants on the newly refurbished quay and we could use the steam railway to get there from Corfe Castle. Alternatively there are some great food options in Corfe itself or we could take the short trip up to Wareham where again there are a number of very good eateries. On Sunday pre breakfast we could venture down to Studland beach for an early swim. The sea here is particularly safe and extremely clean. If there has been a spell of good weather the rocks at the Western end of the beach are excellent for snorkelling. To the East of the beach there is a colony of seahorses - difficult to spot though!!! Later in the morning after breakfast, for those of you that would like to walk, we will head out over Godlingston heath towards Studland. The Bankes Arms will offer us a good place to stop for lunch before we continue to the clifftop walk along to Old Harry rocks. We will then head back along Ballard Down and return to Burnbake for our journeys home. There are a number of exceptional pub/restaurants nearby including 'The Pig on the Beach' https://www.thepighotel.com/on-the-beach/ - booking is recommended. Pub connoisseurs amongst you will be excited to know that the Square and Compass Inn is also not too far away. http://www.squareandcompasspub.co.uk/ Price includes accommodation and two days of guided walks. Price does not include transport to or from the venue - although I can arrange collection from either Poole or Wareham railway stations. I will provide each lodge group with some basic breakfast foods - let me know what you would like nearer the date, and food for picnics during the day. Cost £250 Account Number[masked] Sort code[masked] If you have any questions please do not post here as it just generates confusion. Please text or whatsapp me on[masked] Thanks Glenn
