Summer Concert ~ Eight To The Bar

                                                     Eight to the Bar

FREE summer concert.  Bring your lawn chair, food & drink, kick off your shoes and relax (or dance on the lawn!) to some great music! This band has been around for 39 years and is fantastic. Sue will get to the Rose Garden lawn area by 5:00 to claim a spot for the group, so come as early as you want ... concert starts at 6:30. Look for us toward the trees to the front/left of the stage. Come enjoy a relaxing, fun evening in beautiful Elizabeth Park. The Rose Garden should be in full bloom!

The Rose Garden

The world famous rose garden is the oldest municipally operated rose garden in the country.  It is a two and a half acre garden which has about 800 varieties of roses that amount to 15,000 plants.

Rambling roses cover arched walkways in the garden and the beds are filled with roses of every shape and color. Along the border, fences of climbing and shrub roses provide a colorful background for the bedding plants.

How will we find each other? Does someone have a balloon or some other marker?

    June 25, 2014

A silly question but you mean to the left when you are FACING the stage, correct? As opposed to "stage left."

Been trying to find you for 40 minutes. Help!

Probably won't be there tonight. Fell 6 feet off a ladder yesterday onto my back. Nothing broke but lots of pain. Wish I could be there.

I may be stuck at work late tonight, so am not sure if I can make it. If I can, I'll be there, so I'm not changing my RSVP right now.

We are watching the weather. An update will be posted here on Wednesday afternoon, notifying everyone whether the concert will be outdoors or moved inside to the Pond House Hall. If the concert is moved indoors, this Meetup will be canceled, although feel free to still enjoy the concert on your own at the Pond House.

Wed eves don't work for me in the summer, but sounds like fun.

    June 24, 2014

  • Sue

Just an FYI to everyone ... this is a very popular concert at Eliz Park, so you may want to consider carpooling as an option. Also, if it rains the concert will be moved indoors at the Pond House at the park, but there is limited space inside, so this Meetup will be canceled IF the concert is not held outside.

Just a tidbit: In 2008 I did an original CD at Bar None Studio in Northford, which is Eight To The Bar’s studio. Collin (sax player married to Cynthia, who started the band eons ago) was a wonderful sound engineer and the experience was very rewarding. I would highly recommend them. They are top-notch performers so this concert should be really fun!

I have plenty of beer and wine left from Thimble Islands and can bring some if I have some help to carry the stuff. I will be returning from vacation on the 23/24th so I'll see you at this event.

You can call me when you get to the park & I'll come to your car to help ... with hopefully a couple other people also. I'm sure I can twist Dennis T's arm. :-) Thanks Ellen!
