Weather permitting ~ This 2 mile hike will features beautiful views of the Connecticut River. Hike will begin 10 AM Sharp and last approximately 2 hours with an optional lunch to follow at Angelico's Lake House (reservations 12:30 pm). Jeff grew up with Hurd Park in his backyard so he knows it well.

Hurd Park is part of the Connecticut State Parks “The Sky’s the Limit” Hiking Challenge.
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced a great opportunity to win prizes for hiking Connecticut’s high peaks as part of a new program – “The Sky’s the Limit” Hiking Challenge, designed to promote hiking in Connecticut’s state parks and forests throughout 2019. “What a great way to spending time outdoors hiking Connecticut’s high peaks with family and friends and joining others in a friendly challenge to visit all 14 locations and win prizes along the way,” said Robert Klee, DEEP Commissioner. “Connecticut has hundreds of miles of hiking trails all over the state, ready for you to hike any season of the year. Go have fun this year exploring the high peaks and seeing the spectacular views from the top of the mountains.”

Difficulty: Moderate climbs, rocky terrain,
so any one wishing not to do the steep inclines may not want to sigh up for this one, the path will lead us down to the CT river and of course what goes down must go back up, if they want to go to lunch. We will be walking an old wood back up to split rock, an overlook of the CT river
