SAVE THE DATE! MZANZI CHAMBER MUSIC FEATURES MALANé HOFMEYR-BURGER AND THE CHARL
Details
We are taking a drive to Benoni to visit the lovely Shed & Silo Country Restaurant again for this fabulous, well-priced concert of some big names in the jazz and chamber music business. We had a really nice, out-of-the-ordinary time there not too long ago, and bought freshly baked bread from their on-site little niche bakery, while we enjoyed the beautiful decor and stunning country views.
Renowned flautist Malané Hofmeyr-Burger and the acclaimed Charl du Plessis Trio will host an extraordinary afternoon where classical meets jazz in a genre-defying crossover performance.
The programme centres around Claude Bolling’s Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio — a vibrant seven-movement work that effortlessly blends Baroque elegance with the spirit of jazz and the freshness of contemporary styles. Adding to the magic, the trio will perform their inventive interpretation of two movements from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, reimagined with flair, finesse and a touch of jazz spontaneity.
The afternoon reaches its crescendo with Marion’s Suite by Raymond Guiot — a dynamic collection of five contrasting movements, rich in texture and bursting with musical energy.
Expect an afternoon of virtuosic performances, bold collaborations, and a celebration of jazz music in Johannesburg like you’ve never heard before.
Venue: The Shed & Silo Restaurant, 77 Thomas Road, Norton's Home Estates, Benoni.
Cost: R250.00 pp for adults, R200.00 pp for pensioners.
