Treasure of the Black Jaguar "Entertaining" says Hwood Reporter

Thursday, March 7, 2013
7:00 PM To 11:00 PM

LAEMMLE NoHo 7
5240 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA

“Treasure of the Black Jaguar” is a grindhouse contemporary movie Western that is a 21st Century riff on the genre, combining influences from John Huston’s “Treasure of the Sierra Madre,” the spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone, and the earlier features of Quentin Tarantino.

If you like movies such as Treasure for the Sierra Madre and movies from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, then join me for this one~!

Two hikers looking for gold, greed, plenty of gunplay, and a bordello

The Black Jaguar statue carries with it a curse (of course). The sculpture also has another pursuer, a Japanese industrialist, Katsu, who was betrayed by Blake and who now seeks revenge (and the gold statue).

The Hollywood Reporter calls the film “well-forged” and “entertaining.”

Bruce’s producer and co-writer is Cameron Van Hoy, who also plays Anthony. He’s appeared in numerous independent films and in a recurring role on the TV series Crash.”

In addition to Van Hoy, the cast also stars Michael Drayer, Timothy V. Murphy(“Sons of Anarchy,” “Criminal Minds”), Masayuki Imai (a major star in Japan), Carolyn Stotes, Jessie Camacho (“Reno 911”) and Ellen Gerstein ("Shameless")

There will be a Red Carpet beginning approximately one half-hour before the 7:30 p.m. screening, followed by a live Q & A with writer-director Mike Bruce and writer-producer-star Cameron Van Hoy (and possibly some surprise appearances by cast members). There will be a post-screening reception in North Hollywood at the nearby Big Wangs Restaurant
