The system is separated into 8 sections, 3 of which are focused on in the basic weekly striking class, these being punching, kicking and footwork/stances.
For beginners the focus is on balance and co-ordination, these are the foundation of Gung Fu. I have developed a simple system for batching movements and strikes that allows students to practice what they learn in the class at home and therefore improve quickly if they practice regularly.

Our basic class is fun and a good workout but it is also teaching students to defend themselves, I advocate sound basic principles that have stood the test of time. This class is not about teaching you non effective techniques that can get you into danger.
Students on top of learning self defence will benefit by:

What will I need to wear?
Loose fitting tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt will be fine, I myself train in bare feet, if this is uncomfortable for you light training shoes are fine, bare feet is advised however as kicking and stance training in shoes can make it tricky.
Do I need to be very fit to take part?
This class will be suitable for beginners and more advanced practitioners, the bulk of the class will be movement based and therefore suitable for people getting back into exercise.
How will the class be structured?
The first 15 minutes or so will based around warming up the body and testing students balance through movement. The main part of the lesson will be technical in its focus, we will build the techniques as a movement 1st then look to refine it before testing it out on the pads. Every student each lesson will get the opportunity to work on their own techniques with me holding pads for them. The final 15 minutes of the session will be focused on calming down the body and mind introducing the principles of Qi Gong and meditation.
What if I have an injury?
In the case you have an injury please let me know before the class or at the latest when you arrive, in most case we will work around it.
