  • SW (Beaverton, etc) Critique Meeting

    Griffith park building room 350

We are using a read-aloud format. If you wish to have your work critiqued, please bring a short piece or chapter (about 3-5 double-spaced pages) to read out loud to the group. It can be any genre, including non-fiction or poetry. You don't have to read - you can show up to listen and critique or just listen. We don't have set time limits on critiques - all we ask is that you be mindful of how many readers are reading after you so that everyone gets a chance to read. :)

  • Thursday Evening Write-In

    Palio Espresso and Dessert House

Come one, come all to the Thursday Evening Write-In! Thursday Evening Write-In is a great way to brush the dust off that story you've always wanted to write but never gave yourself the time to do so, to hone-in on your writing skills, or simply to embrace the creative benefits of free-writing. Our format is[masked] (write for 25 minutes, talk for 10, then repeat until our brains become mush). This group meets weekly, though the people in attendance are fairly fluid and relaxed. We promote an atmosphere that allows each of us to complete our project goals, whether that's writing your first novel, fine-tuning a poem, drafting a comic, and more! We're here to help one another stay motivated and to hash out any questions that may arise on our writing journeys. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Downtown Saturday Critique Meeting

    First Christian Church

Hi Everyone, please join us for our weekly critique meeting. We are holding this every Saturday afternoon at First Christian Church. They have a great back room that can be closed off from everything and is nice and quiet! No more sound checks or pianos to deal with, so it's an ideal place for reading aloud. We are using a read-aloud format. If you wish to have your work critiqued, please bring a short piece or chapter (about 2-3 double-spaced pages) to read out loud to the group. It can be any genre, including non-fiction or poetry, but we do ask that the material be R as we are in a public place and don't put age restrictions on our writers. You don't have to read - you can show up to listen and critique or just listen. We don't have set time limits on critiques - all we ask is that you be mindful of how many readers are reading after you so that everyone gets a chance to read. We unfortunately have to pay a monthly fee for the space so we will pass a hat. There's no cost to come but if you can spare a couple of dollars it will go to paying for the space. Please RSVP so we have an accurate count so we know how many chairs to set up. Also please note: the building is locked so there will be someone at the Park Avenue entrance (the glass doors) between 1:30 - 2:00 to let you in. Don't be late! If you think you might be a bit late, please message Heather ahead of time so we can make arrangements.
