What we're about

A Place For Us is a social group that is committed to creating a welcoming, encouraging, engaging, enjoyable space for Chicago area lesbians of color who are 45 years who wish to meet other lesbians of color for fun, interesting activities, stimulating conversation, and for friendship - a space where womyn of color can enjoy the company of womyn of color.

We desire to create an uplifting, affirming environment that represents the rich cultural tapestry that is Chicago- where all lesbians of color regardless of complexion, languages spoken, or national origin can relax and be themselves - proud, beautiful, and strong. We desire to create an environment where we can laugh and talk and learn from one another while enjoying the social events that are offered for members. Simply put, A Place for Us wishes to create a space where we can exhale.
We expect all who join to treat others with the same kindness and respect that she desires to receive. We want all members to feel comfortable in a space that is free of bullying, intimidation, yelling, intolerance and mean spiritedness.
We will try to organize events that are located in areas across the city so that all areas are represented as fairly as possible. We welcome your suggestions for events, activities and restaurants.
This is a social group for lesbians of color. This is not a group that endorses, promotes or pursues business opportunities or investment opportunities. Engaging in such actions is prohibited.
If you desire to meet other lesbians of color who share this vision, we ask that you join us in creating something special for mature lesbians of color. We deserve it - A Place for Us
