What we're about

The Alexandria-Arlington Regional Gaming Group or AARGGH exists to provide a community for gaming enthusiasts in the DC Metro area, with an emphasis in NoVA. We play board games, social games, Euro games, role-playing games, laser tag, bowling, mini golf, and any other game anyone will organize with a large monthly event and several smaller events each month. We're brand new and looking for friendly folks to hang out with at our events

Sunday Games at Ireland's Four Courts

Ireland's Four Courts

Welcome to Sunday Games at Ireland’s Four Courts, a friendly pub that’s like a little bit o’ the Emerald Isle just a shamrock's throw from Court House metro station. The Celtic ambiance notwithstanding, there’s no need to wear green (unless you’re planning to play Kodama), and after an evening of games you can shuffle to the next room and engage in that old Irish tradition, karaoke. Bring your favorite board and card games, or bring nothing but an appetite for friendly competition and delicious food and drink; the event host will provide a selection of popular games for everyone to play. The restaurant has offered us gaming space at no charge but with the understanding that players will be ordering food and drink. While you play, please do enjoy something from the menu, which you can find on the restaurant's website (http://www.irelandsfourcourts.com/). Also, please tip generously. The wait staff will stand ready to serve you for your entire session of Fields of Green or A Study in Emerald even if you order no more than the customer who comes and goes in less than an hour, so they deserve extra consideration. Technical note: The end time shown above is just a suggestion. The restaurant is open later – much later – as is the kitchen, so you're welcome to hang out, finish your game, and order more to eat and drink.

September Grand Gaming Melee

Central Library

DO YOU MIND? Why, yes, yes you do! Games are a meeting of minds, a competition of mind versus mind (or cooperation of mind with mind). In keeping with the popular trend of verbing unsuspecting nouns, we declare that when you play, you mind. AARGGH’s Grand Gaming Melees are mass meetings of multiple minds. From the mind-bending complexities of A Study in Emerald to the nearly mindless nonsense of Meow, nobody minds like AARGGH. So sign up, show up, and let your mind out to play! Bring games you want to play, or come without games and play what others bring. There will be board games, card games, tile games, and just about every other kind of game that can be played on a tabletop. If you want to try a new one, there will be plenty of people eager to teach you. Your mind will get hungry, so please bring something delicious to share. Popular delicious things include bags of chips, pretzels, cookies, or crackers. Some people bring a package of doughnuts or cupcakes, to which hungry players always respond, “don’t mind if I do!.” A few creative types may even bring something homemade; these contributions are especially appreciated! Other than fruitcake – the mere thought of which can impair a player’s mind – all contributions are welcome. A refrigerator is available to store drinks and other items that should be kept chilled. Official start time is 10:30am, but you may arrive as early as 10:00am to help with setup. Cleanup begins around 4:00pm (or whenever you decide that you can’t squeeze in one more game before the end of the event). To put it mildly, we don’t mind if you stick around to help with this process too. Arlington Central cleanup instructions: leave the tables and chairs where you used them. The next group can deal with setup the same way we did.
