Dungeon World

I will be GMing Dungeon World, an indie fantasy RPG. It won boardgamegeek.com's "Golden Geek" Award for Best RPG 2012. Dungeon World combines the "old school" flavor of dungeon-crawling, D&D-style adventure with "new school" game mechanics that are fast, flexible, and emphasize narrative, character development, and collaborative storytelling. In other words, AWESOME.

I have never run it before and am DYING to give it a try!

It's going to be potluck-style, and I'm capping this thing at seven (counting myself, so really five), so plan accordingly!

I need at least four people interested to hold the reservation. If three or less RSVP, we can discuss a different location for the game.

A little based since I ran the thing, but I think if went well! Only complaint was the group was a little too big for the game, but I pulled it off (I think)

I'm REALLY excited for tomorrow! I'm tentatively planning on bringing meatballs as a dish to pass. Remember this is a potluck, so bring a bag of chips or a 12-pack of soda or something for the group! If you can't bring anything that's okay, though. See you all there!

I'll be making a trader Joe's run tonight to get my stuff. If anybody has a special request, there's a chance I can provide. Being reimbursed would be awesome. :-)

Thank you kindly for the message. I am holed up this weekend completing work that slipped over the holidays. So many worlds, so much to do, so little time such things to be.

Ed: Hi! I am very interesting in this -- been wanting someone to run it for me, so that I feel competent to run it in the future.

On a side note, if you want to do this inside the beltway -- or just metro accessible -- I can find a place.

Due to the location, I'm just a maybe. But, say the word and I'll publicize this to everyone else.

I would like the location to be free, accomodating to as many people as possible, and in Alexandria. If you've got a more suitable place that fits those criteria, I'm all ears. Publicize away!

Don't worry too much, Ed. Responsibility is mine.

Arlington library has some small meeting rooms:
    http://arlingtonva.libcal.com/booking/smallmeetingrooms

Of these, the "Nonprofit" room is free 11:30 onwards, and the "glass" room is free open to close.

These have a 2-hour policy, and I have no idea how closely those are monitored.

I recommend you hold off making changes to the scheduled event for a day or so, and we'll see if folks express interest. If they do, I wager an appropriate metro friendly spot can be found.

Are you been to an AARGGH meetup before?

    December 27, 2012

    • Ed G.

Yes, I've been to a couple. We might have even met before!

I did see that about Arlington but I'm thinking this is going to be more like 3-4 hours and, like you said, I don't know if we'll get kicked at two or not. So I'll follow your advice and we'll just see who signs up. The main bullet point here is that LOCATION IS NEGOTIABLE!

Hi Ed. I hope this works well -- though I'll be unable to attend anything that isn't metro accessible. You may be able to get Arlington Central's Nonprofit room -- its open noon to close. Request: Stop changing quite so much. I think its going out to the membership -- like 700 people. :-)

Oh, crap! Sorry! I'm completely and totally new to this so I'm kinda wingin' it!

      December 27, 2012

    • Ed G.

Again, too; if there is a residence/library/something that's not a coffee shop that's metro accessible and in the NOVA area, I'll do it!
