The Tacoma Astronomical Society hosts free public viewing sessions each month at Pierce College near Fort Steilacoom. In August, they are presenting Women in Astronomy and several AAUW women are planning to attend. There will be an indoor lecture regardless of the weather. If the night is clear TAS volunteers will provide telescopic observations of the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, double stars and more. There is no charge for public programs or for observing. However, donations are gladly accepted. The donations are used to further public education and outreach programs.
Details will be provided as the event draws near. The link to the Tacoma Astronomical Society is here. (http://www.tas-online.org/public_nights.php)
