I have decided to step down as organizer, but don't worry - I made sure someone was willing to take my place before I did so. Sutter will be taking over the reigns. He is very interested in doing this so I'm sure the future of Spanish meetup is in great hands! He has lots of good ideas that will rejuvenate the group. He is fluent in Spanish and has taught Spanish in the past.
I will still attend meetings periodically. Part of the reason for stepping down is that I've been doing this for a couple of years and I'm a bit burned out. Also, Frank is going to be traveling to France and Canada frequently for his job, so we have started to learn French. But, we don't plan to abandon Spanish - we have invested way too much time and $$ into learning Spanish - so we'll be by to make sure we don't get too rusty.
Meet local Spanish language and culture lovers for conversation and fun! Come to a Spanish Language Meetup and make new amigos as you practice speaking. All levels are welcome! There are native speakers in the club as well to help keep us on track.
Come prepared to discuss en español an interactive topic thought up beforehand. After we first meet in a big group and do presentaciones, we break up into smaller groups so that everyone has an opportunity to habla. We try to keep it loose (but structured) so that intermediate/advanced speakers can practice and beginners can get past their inhibitions. Everyone is free to make mistakes and the idea is to correct you only if you ask for it.
