ACC Photography Department | Meet Up Group Announcements
I want to extend a welcome to new members and warm hello to all. Our Fall semester begins August 29th, and there are exciting new things for the upcoming year we would like to share with you. We have officially changed our name to The Department of Professional Photography (The D.PP). We strive to be a top and a well-respected destination for a complete photographic education; this change serves to better reflect the business and art of a professional practice today. Recent updates in our program include Phase One Capture One Pro as well as the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite across all of our digital labs and studios. Alongside fifteen 17” professional imaging printers, we added a second, new generation 24” wide body – the Epson SureColor® P7000 that highlights a ten color pigment ink-set. In the studios we continue to expand upon our lighting tools. Additionally, we have evolved our Fundamentals classes to be more accessible to our community by streamlining the material to include camera and digital processing skills into a single course. We have also introduced a new advanced course – Photographic Lab Techniques – that features in-depth processing with Capture One and Photoshop, high-end fashion and portrait retouching, large-format fine printing and working with a mentoring curator to further refine a body of work. In mid September we will host Professional Race Car Photographer, Richard Dole. ( He will display and describe his stunning images and client projects. We are finalizing details, and will let you know how you can attend as our guests soon. This is the first of several interesting presentations planned for this coming year, we will share here as they are confirmed. Current Exhibits of Interest: Vivian Maier ( - Exhibit at the Arlington Museum of Art.
