Details

In this talk, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust developers, Brittany Martin and Danielle Greaves, along with Elastic's Chad Tindel, detail the upgrade path of the Cultural District's search functionality from Google Custom Search to Elasticsearch. They will be talking about how they recently deployed Elasticsearch on their website: https://trustarts.org/ (https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftrustarts.org%2F&data=01%7C01%7Crobbiemck%40pitt.edu%7C5cd9a4eed4834120ba9b08d4655fd187%7C9ef9f489e0a04eeb87cc3a526112fd0d%7C1&sdata=TvxGYYGGPgEAYZJaKEgluQYfN%2F9zptsU3VQBmf7fXqw%3D&reserved=0) .

Abstract:

The arts community of our city is dependent on a 24/7 high volume Rails application supported by a team of three. With the pressures of patrons, internal stakeholders and performers, learn how the Cultural Trust moved their search engine to Elasticsearch from Google Custom Search, all within the means of a non-profit budget. The Trust team will share the benefits they have gained and lessons they learned from the conversion.

Located between the Convention Center and Stanwix Street in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh's 14-square block Cultural District encompasses over 90 retail shops, 50 dining establishments, seven world-class theaters, eight public parks and art installations and a dozen art galleries.
