Lest We Forget: ANZAC Day, 25 April 2014

Hi Meetup friends,

Come and join me to remember those whom sacrificed so much to protect us. Every one of us has been touched directly and indirectly by war. Let's come together as friends and share a special moment; watching the sun rise as friends - at the Dawn Service.

It's usually very cold at the service, so be sure to bring warm clothes!

We may kick on after the service with breakfast and a rum or beer or juice somewhere close by. TBC.

Here is some more detail, below:

Anzac Day Services at the Australian War Memorial Canberra's ANZAC Day Dawn Service is one of the nation's most moving ceremonies. Gather with thousands of Australians in the pre-dawn light to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the first military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. Experience the emotion of the lone bugler playing the Last Post. Pay your respects to those who gave their lives in the service of their country. Leave a poppy on the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier. After the ceremony, gain a true understanding our ANZAC's experiences and explore the galleries at the Australian War Memorial. Note :Dawn Service starts at 5.30am. Get there early for a good place; National Ceremony and RSL veterans march 10.15am.

I'll be at the dawn service, then breakfast/drinks at Olims. Then Marching for the royals at 9-something then probably city or kingston for more drinks, lunch, and lies.

If I'm not farmed off with work, I'd love to join this service. Otherwise, I'll catch up with the group for beers after.
