Are you aware that a person's emotions affect his sense of motivation?

Did you know that ADHD affects a person's emotional regulation?

The National Resource Center on ADHD’s Ask the Expert Webinar Series is taking an in-depth look at emotions and motivation in people affected by ADHD this March. Renown researcher and author Dr. Thomas E. Brown will focus on how the disorder affects a person’s emotions and how emotions are expressed. A person’s level of motivation is tied to his emotions where ADHD is concerned. Dr. Brown will discuss the interrelationship between emotions and motivation:
• Emotional regulation and a person’s sense of motivation
• Why getting started on a project can be difficult for someone affected by ADHD
• How to take control of one’s emotions and motivation

Dr. Brown is a clinical psychologist who received his Ph.D. from Yale University and maintains a private practice in Hamden, Connecticut specializing in assessment and treatment of high-IQ children, adolescents and adults with ADD and related problems. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine and is Associate Director of the Yale Clinic for Attention and Related Disorders.

He has been inducted into the CHADD Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to research and professional education about ADHD in children and adults. He has also been elected a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.

He has served on the Professional Advisory Board for national CHADD and for the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association. He has published articles in professional journals and is author of the Brown Attention Deficit Disorder Scales for Children, Adolescents and Adults published by PsychCorp/Pearson. His most recent book, A New Understanding of ADHD in Children and Adults, Executive Function Impairments was released by Routledge in May, 2013.
