Re: [graphicdesign-38] Help us find a new place to meet I have yet to get to  a meeting of Graphic Designers Meetup, but I’ve been reading your discussion with interest and hope to meet some of you soon. Graphic Designers Meetup may be interested joining in some with with a pre-existing group that has public meeting space and is looking for some new energy. Don’t most designers use Adobe products?

I originaly sent this off-list to Fletch and, after reading everyone’s suggestions, I just  decided to throw it out to the larger group.

The Austin Adobe User Group has been around for about 10 years and has monthly meetings that have been hosted by the Texas Dept of Health.  It’s free and open to the public. It began as the Macromedia Users Group. There's very old info about the group at http://ammug.nhive.com. Adobe offers some support but is rather non-intrusive.

We meet in one of their training rooms on Friday afternoons in the Chris Cole Rehabilitation Building on 49th and Lamar. They provide a meeting space with LAN internet access and a projector. There are a number of work stations around the room, but usually we focus on a single presentation.

The group is looking for a new leader and presenters. It has a good sized mailing list (284 currently) that I manage. Otherwise, I'm NOT the organizer and don't want to be. This isn't a location for drinking, but there is lots of parking and it's central, and I've love to have AAUG moved out of the state and into the private sector, where there's more design going on.

The normal meeting time is the Second Friday afternoon, 1:15 pm – 3:30 pm.

I'll be traveling to NY tomorrow, so pretty busy. Do you see an opportunity for synergy with the graphic=design 38 group and AAUG?
