Workshop Title: Introduction to Digital Hardware Design- FPGAs
Workshop Lead: Linda Megerdichian

Programmable Logic has become more and more common as a core technology used to build electronic devices. In particular, high-performance systems nowadays are now almost always implemented with FPGAs. This workshop will give you the basics of FPGA design in Embedded Systems along with some beginner design skills. You will learn what an FPGA is and how to use a state of the art software tool for FPGA development.

FPGA Intro session:
1- What is FPGA?
2- Applications of FPGA
3- Why Use an FPGA When a Microcontroller Would Do?
4- Hardware structure of FPGAs
5- Digital Design
6- What is RTL?
7- Basic Design Flow
8- Combinational and sequential logic
9-Schematic vs. VHDL
10- if else in VHDL
11- Case statements
12- Test benches
13- Design a MUX using either if statements or case statements + simulation.
