Garden State Winegrowers Blues and Wine Festival

The Garden State Wine Growers Association's annual Blues & Wine Festival is a great place to have a Meetup because there is room to have a picnic, so that is why we are doing it again!
In the past, AGOF (A Group Of Friends) people have put down tarps, brought folding chairs, shared munchies and enjoy the company of old and new friends. Like last year, this event is going to be held at Natirar Park, which is the former 411-acre old estate of the King of Morocco. It includes wooded areas and large open fields and a two-mile picturesque loop trail along the scenic North Branch River. The estate is a verdant setting that showcases many aspects of the areas rich architectural, cultural, historic and archaeological heritage. This park spreads across three Somerset County municipalities, Peapack/Gladstone, Far Hills and Bedminster. Here are some suggestions for munchies to bring hummus, dips, chips, fruit and anything else you can think of. There are also food vendors as well. Directions to Natirar

Such a ROOKIE MOVE !!! Rich, I printed out all the info except for your cell phone number and then I could not find you when we arrived. We saw a blue umbrella/gazebo-type thing on this hill AND several blue umbrellas, BUT we could not find the blue tarp for our group. I asked several groups and gave up. So sorry we missed you AND now we have leftovers galore BUT we HAD A BLAST at the event and stayed until the end !!! We will catch you at another event AND I will get it straight beforehand. Hope you and the rest of the group had a great time too.

The Blues & Wine festival was great fun! The wine was fine, and Tom Larson's band was excellent! Great weather too (just a little sunburn)! We bought 1/2 case of wine, a cd, and enjoyed ourselves the entire day! The Jambalaya was excellent!!!! And a good time was had by all!!!

    IMPORTANT REMINDER:
AnnMarie had let us know the great deal she got for us....I've been in contact with the winegrowers assoc. - and they are again
willing to give our members the group discount. If you pay admission at the door the day of the event - please mention
"A GROUP OF FRIENDS" meetup group - and you will receive the
group discount rate of $16 versus the normal $20 admission fee.

Parking is plentiful. They park us all over the lawn / grounds.
Note: last year they did allow coolers - but they literally made you open them up to show them what was inside (no outside alcohol is allowed)

Allison, I called the listed phone number for GSWGA to get a direct answer for your question...but they never called me back :-( the only thing I can tell you at this point is that, since we'll be picnicing the the midset of the festival, and I've never seen bbq's at other wine festivals we've attended, I wouldn't count on it....if I hear anything different, I will certainly post it.
