Hey skiers, looks like tonight's storm will bring only a trace. Therefore, I am CANCELING this Sunday's trip to Windblown. An alternative venue could be Waterville, which is reporting 7-10" base. I cannot coordinate this - I am leading an overnight AMC trip that was planning to meet up with this group. We paid for lodging, so this trip is going anyway and trip is full. So please use this forum to coordinate an alternative plan. Sorry that we have so little snow.

for those interested in the alternative venue, I have posted and am organizing a "Carpool to Waterville Valley Sunday" trip. See my suggested listing at:

Folks, there is sparse coverage @ windblown. According to their website on Wednesday, "Trails are icy and scratchy. Value Day all week ... Snow in the forecast for Friday, if we receive 4 or more inches, we will reopen Saturday and have moonlight skiing that evening".
A group is staying overnight in warming hut regardless, so we will either ski trails or hike Wapack trail on Sunday.

Is anyone interested in going to Windblown for the afternoon (2:00 p.m.) discounted time?

Windblown lost much of their base in the 60 degrees temps last week. Recent snow has opened about half their trails and another storm (Sunday?) should restore all trails. I'll update this next week.

Elizabeth is correct - all abilities are welcome and we plan to have slow, intermediate, and fast groups. That said, we cannot accommodate first time or beginning skiers - please take a lesson to learn basic how-tos before joining most AMC trips.

Hi Donna. I'm not one of the leaders, but it sounds like you are not a "rank beginner", ie, have never been on skis before. Since all abilities are welcome, my guess is - that includes you. Hope to see you there!

Hello, I've just joined AMC and am considering the Windblown meetup. I'm an intermediate alpine skier and have XC skied off and on. Not sure if my technique is correct, but I shuffle along. I'm just getting back into shape. Will I be able to keep up in a group like this?

Anyone excited about doing some downhill skiing at Killington with a ski bus on December 27th ?
