Student Robotics Open Build Day

AMRoC Fab Lab

In an effort to give more youth access to AMRoC build and practice time on Fab Lab FIRST and VEX tables and fields throughout the competition season, we're offering a free weekly Open Build opportunity for local teams every Wednesday, starting at 3:30 pm for public and home school based youth robotics teams. Please note that any participating youth groups MUST have a supervising adult 20 years of age or older with them at all times. Machine shop access is limited and can be used only with AMRoC staff supervision. Playing fields and tables will be shared collaboratively during Open Build days, and all youth robotics teams on site are bound by our Robotics Teams Policy Guide found here: https://amroctampabay.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/AMRoC-Fab-Lab-Policies-for-Guest-and-Member-Teams.pdf Please RSVP with the number of students participating. For teams seeking longer, privately scheduled build and meeting space use, please visit https://amroctampabay.com/amroc-fee-schedule-for-student-robotics-teams/

National Day of Civic Hacking

AMRoC Fab Lab

National Day of Civic Hacking (NDCH) is a nationwide day of action that brings together civic leaders, public servants, designers, coders, and data scientists to partner with our local governments and tackle some of our toughest challenges. [Brigade] participates in NDoCH every year as part of the Code for America Network, and this year, NDoCH is being held on September 21. Tampa's NDCH event is being hosted by Code for Tampa Bay Brigade (CodeforTampaBay.org) at AMRoC Fab Lab. At this year's event, volunteer civic technologists will be working on helping transform the way government delivers services to those impacted by the criminal justice system. Code for Tampa Bay will be: * Creating a user-friendly “Know Your Rights” site about criminal record relief * Journey mapping/process mapping the criminal record relief (i.e., expungement, sealing, dismissal, reduction, etc.) process in the Tampa Bay area. * We hope to have a speaker working with Amendment 4 and the citizenship re-introduction programs in the Tampa Bay area. We'll also be working on an ongoing projects: *WellBuilt Bikes website and service platform - We're helping this great nonprofit social enterprise, also based in the Mall, improve their online presence to better reflect their nonprofit mission.
