a protest this weekend, just in case you are interested

There is a protest this weekend. It is not an Anti-Fur Society protest, but I am posting it in case any of you are interested. Please forward to those you think care about human overpopulation and animals used for fur.

Walt Rave Memorial Protest Day. Come together to honor Walt with a protest against human overpopulation, followed by a protest against the use of animals for fur, and then we will have an early dinner together (vegan pizza and natural soda on tap).

When: Saturday, January 14, 2012 beginning at 2p. If you can't make it then, there are later events.

First: 2p-3p at Knights of Columbus, 5417 Cedar Lane, Bethesda to protest their support of human breeding, human over population, and right wing extremism.
Second: 3:15p-4p at Gartenhaus Furs 7101 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda
Third: 4:30p early dinner at Pete's Apizza 4940 Wisconsin Ave, NW DC

Some signs will be provided for the first protest and plenty of signs will be provided for the second protest. We will provide plenty of leaflets for both protests. Please bring your own water and dress for being out in the weather. If there is heavy rain or snow the protest will be cancelled.

Walt Rave’s death on December 10, 2011 has deeply affected many people. Walt was a man that lived by its convictions and worked from the time it left the Navy in 1970 until its death in 2011 to make the world a better place. Walt lived peacefully by becoming vegan and speaking out for animals. If there is one thing we can be certain of, it is that Walt exemplified personal responsibility and action. One of Walt’s most recent actions was to protest the Discovery Communications building in solidarity with James Lee who protested the glorification of human overpopulation. It is in that spirit that we are holding this memorial protest in Walt’s name.

Please join us to honor Walt and protest human overpopulation. There are children waiting for adoption into good families and a world too burdened with human overpopulation. Why do humans continue to breed so selfishly? This issue needs more attention. As Walt Said, "Sometime people will wake up and realize we are breeding ourselves extinct."

You may be wondering why this alert uses objectifying language (referring to Walt as "it" and "that"). That, too, is to honor Walt. It was Walt’s style to use sarcasm to make people think. This alert was written using the language people typically use when referring to someone who is not human. It is even a grammatical rule that other animals should be called “it”. Those rules and the societal habits are dictated by speciesists. Non-speciesists reject those rules. Objectifying language aids in keeping others down. Calling anyone “it” regardless of his/her species should sound just as wrong to everyone as it does when used to reference a man like Walt.
