Frankenstein: The Shocking Science Behind the Story (Dr Kathryn Harkup)

An alternative look at Mary Shelley's classic novel, was there fact amongst the fiction? Tracing a line from the early, often gruesome, experiments through to modern lifesaving medical technologies such as defibrillators and organ transplants we discover whether Dr Frankenstein really could have achieved his goal, and ask if we're any closer to making such a "monster" today....

Dr Kathryn Harkup is a freelance science communicator, chemist and vampirologist delivering talks and workshops on the quirky side of science.

For those of you who were present at our Seriously Staked Vampire Symposium you will instantly recognise Dr Kathryn Harkup(for those who weren't tsk! tsk!), her presentation was scientific, interesting and lively.
I personally cant wait for this talk, she will not just be covering Frankenstein but experiments done in the real world dating back to the times when someone first plugged electrodes into a frogs legs and made them twitch, the illegal body snatching business for experiments.....think "Burking" and you will know where we are headed, feel free to google that one, hope to see you all there, enjoy ;-)
