Nowadays we are joining with other meetups to alert our members of fun social activities beyond that help us affirm our goals of celebrating diversity and building stronger & more loving communities.
But we still typically meet at a private screening venue at the AT Center (ATC) in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. On special occasions, the movies we watch are on a 10 ft screen w/ 1080p resolution and surround sound. These are always no-frills, alcohol, and drug-free events. And more often than not we'll screen episodes of popular tv series with a spiritual core that resonates for our membership.
Some crowd favorites are our tasty BBQs and in 2018 we started serving a free cup of Ground Work coffee (one of the top 10 coffee's in Los Angeles according to Huffpost)
And let's not forget about the sometimes highly charged, after-movie discussions. (Can the coffee be the culprit?) Which is why the movies or tv shows, chosen tend to be fun and have high production value, as well as, socially relevant topics designed to generate thought-provoking engagement.
Thru meetup we are now opening these donation-based events to the general public so your respect for others while watching the film and during discussions is greatly appreciated. And most importantly, we are all about having fun with drag contests and special guest speakers depending on the theme. So even if you are not 100% sure you'll attend, then RSVP anyways to show your support for the chosen movie of the month and help us plan the meal.
Our goal is to choose screenings that elevate the human spirit. Because in our estimation, Pride = Health.
Our community partners that help to us in our mission to celebrate LA's cultural diversity have included: AT Center (ATC), 12-Step Institute, The California Men's Gathering, LA CADA, Being Alive & Uprising Yoga.
Together WE can breakdown the walls that DIVIDE, one movie at a time.
