By now, most of you are familiar with Amazon Web Services, and if you aren't, chances are what you want to know is available somewhere on the Internet. But what about the hidden secrets, the little things that are useful, and yet not well known even by super Cloud experts? In this meetup, Simone will collect tips and tricks from the AWS Solutions Architect team, and share them with you. You're free to ask questions during and after the event as well. Topics covered? Sshhh, it's a secret!

Registration begins at 4:30 PM. Event starts promptly at 5PM.

About our speaker:

Simone Brunozzi
Senior Technology Evangelist, Amazon Web Services, USA

Simone Brunozzi serves as a Senior Technology Evangelist for Amazon Web Services, focused on the Bay Area (San Francisco and Silicon Valley) and the rest of United States. He frequently mentors at tech accelerators worldwide (Techstars, H-Farm, Founder Institute, MindTheBridge, and others).

After having been a four-times entrepreneur, a University professor, a CTO, and after writing two technical books and two novels, he joined Amazon.com in March 2008 in the role of Amazon Web Services Technology Evangelist for Europe (EMEA), to raise awareness about Cloud Computing and help developers build applications. In January 2010 he relocated to Singapore, becoming the first AWS Technology Evangelist for the APAC region. In 2010 he received the “2010 Cloud Evangelist of the Year” award. In July 2012, Simone relocated to San Francisco, where he maintains the same role, focusing on events, companies and startups in California, mainly in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Will the presentation be video recorded? Unfortunately, I cannot make it at that time, but I would love to see the video and slides later if available.

Can anyone tell me how I get my data from EBS to S3... I've tried s3cmd, but it has a 5 GB max and my files are larger...

Simone , I'd like to get your opinion about one of AWS issues.
As I see it, after each reboot (EC2 instance running RedHat 6.4) the ssh server config file /etc/ssh/sshd_config becomes "slightly" corrupted. The script in /etc/rc.local adds unnecessary string "PermitRootLogin without -password" at the end of the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file.
Multiple copies of this string make instance unreachable by ssh
It will be great to hear your answer during our today's Meetup
    Thank you in advance,
    Yury

There is car/bicycle parking in the buildings garage.

    September 25, 2013

  • Anthony W.

Logistical request: usually these events happen during rush hour and it's hard to get to by car/walk/transit. If there is secure in-door bicycle parking, it would make it much easier for my team to attend.
