Assessing EKS Security with kube-bench

The Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmark for Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) was released in July 2020 to accurately assess the security configuration of Amazon EKS clusters. This benchmark aligns with the CIS Kubernetes benchmark but also covers configuration mechanisms specific to EKS and removes false positives not applicable to managed EKS clusters.

This talk briefly introduces the AWS Shared Responsibility Model and how it applies to Amazon EKS, shows how the CIS Amazon EKS benchmark can help assessing security in EKS clusters, and provides a demo of kube-bench, an open source tool for auditing and addressing security issues in EKS clusters.
