• [Virtual] Hackathon of Help from Home

    Online event

The only thing that doesn't seem to be at a complete standstill these days is need. Our community's needs haven't stopped and our desire to assist has only been strengthened. For this reason, your AZGiveCamp Organize-Nerds have decided to hold a one-day Hackathon of Help from Home.

We will have multiple teams working on different projects for one non-profit organization in this first non-face-to-face event. See the video for details of the project and to figure out how you can best help.

Join us virtually on May 2 from 9am to 5pm. Further information will be sent via Meetup prior to the event to anyone who RSVPs. The event may be virtual, but the help is real!

    Arizona Crime Victims Law Group
"[Crime victims] never asked to be a part of the criminal justice system and they never asked to be a victim. What happened is, a crime was committed on them and as a result, our organization provides a lawyer to that victim, to provide them with a voice -- a voice through the criminal justice process, a voice to give input to what type of crime should be charged, what type of plea offer if any should be offered to a defendant, what restitution for economic losses need to be recovered by the victim from the defendant, what type of punishment there should be..." - Dan Levey, Arizona Crime Victims Law Group

  • Mini Hackathon-of-Help

Come code with us to help a great local non-profit organization. Unlike our regular event, we'll work on only a single charity, and only for a single day. Come join us about an hour north of Phoenix for a great, focused event. Then come join us again this spring for our 9th annual event.

    The Project

Chrysalis helps victims of domestic abuse. We began converting their Access app into a greenfield ASP.NET Website at the last hack-a-thon. Now we need to flush out the UI, convert many of their reports to HTML, and add styling and flair. Are you skilled in ASP.NET? Know CSS? Want to dig in with HTML? Come code with us for good.

    The Venue

Arcosanti is up I-17, just after one would turn left to go to Payson. With a good tail-wind, it's just a tad more than an hour north of Phoenix. Drive up Saturday morning, lunch is on us, and enjoy the great sunset as we finish up just before dinner.

  • Phoenix 2017 Hackathon-of-Help

    Galvanize (New Facility)

Come code with us to help some great local non-profit organizations at our 8th annual AZGiveCamp event. The Phoenix 2017 Hackathon-of-Help will be held March 24th – 26th, 2017 at the brand new Galvanize Phoenix facility off 7th Street, south of Chase Field. We start Friday after work, and deliver completed solutions Sunday afternoon. Sleep is optional, meals and caffeine provided.

Chrysalis helps victims of domestic abuse. They're looking to convert an attendance tracking Access app to a more modern platform. This will be a huge greenfield project, so we'd love lots of help. Come say hi to Angie.

Kids at Hope asserts that every child has a treasure inside, and the treasure hunters can make them bloom. They're looking to replace their PHP-based student tracking site with a site that allows not only tracking teachers' influence on students, but also tracks students' views of their mentors. Come say hi to Kim.

Central Arizona Shelter Services provides dignity to the homeless. They're looking for a website facelift. We can stick with their Weebly setup or move them to a new CMS like WordPress. Come say hi to David.

SeedSpot is a startup incubator for the socially conscious entrepreneur. They're looking to revive their social mobile application built in C#. Their existing back-end service provider has shut down. We'll take on as many of the 3 tasks as we can: get the app building, replace the server, and modify the app brand to reflect the SeedSpot brand. Come say hi to John and Travis.

GreenLight Solutions matches students with local businesses for internships. They've outgrown their manual processes, and are looking to scale their success in the cloud. Help them pick out a CMS, a Project Management software such as Jira, and get setup with corporate email using G-Suite or Office 365. Come say hi to Ryand and Kevin.

Furnishing Dignity provides donated household supplies to those leaving homelessness. They're looking to replace their existing paper and email intake system with something more modern. Come visit with Joyce.

Girl Develop It provides judgement-free programming classes. They're looking to create a social hub based in WordPress listing all the local events in a single dashboard. Come say hi to Jennifer.

CommunityCause.org matches local donations with those best able to receive them. They're looking to add social media to their website, and to improve content and messaging. Come say hi to Clare.

AZGiveCamp.org is painfully slow. They have a new framework started in Jeckyl. Help us add content and style, improving messaging and branding. Come say hi to Barry.
