Full Moon Hike @ Camelback Mountain [Paradise Valley]

Full Moon Hike - Camelback - Cholla Trail.

The summit of Camelback Mountain is at 2,704 feet above sea level. Elevation gain from the two summit trails is approximately 1,200 feet. This particular trail is not difficult from a technical perspective. However, climbing this trail during the summer in Phoenix can be quite a challenge -- bring plenty of water. Even for the beginning hiker, this trail is well marked and easy to navigate.

Difficulty: Beginner (Saddle) Moderate (Summit)
Elevation Change: ~1200ft from: 1500ft to 2700ft.
Distance: 1.5Mi

PARKING

You will want to park your vehicle at 6336 E Jackrabbit Rd - on the side of the road in front of the stop sign. Grab all your gear and then proceed to walk to the trail-head at 6130 E Cholla Ln. The distance is 6/10th of a mile. Cholla Lane is two blocks south on Invergordan If you park anywhere else in the area you are likely to get a citation from Paradise Valley PD.

We will leave the trail-head at 7:00pm promptly and return @ 9:00p.

My phone number will be provided to all yes RSVPs.

WHAT TO BRING:

Water to keep yourself hydrated. 2L or more.
A headlight/flashlight
A portable dinner/snack to eat on the summit.
Trail Mix or any sort of sugary/salty food will keep you energized while you hike.

WHAT TO WEAR :

You will sweat a lot since it's tough hike, even with the cooler temperature, Shorts and T-Shirts are definitely recommended. Do not wear extra layers.

Never been on this trail - would hiking sticks be a help or a hindrance? Thanks!

You will need both hands free to be able to climb from the saddle to the summit.

You should still come - just stop at the saddle, still a great hike and a beautiful view. :)
